AFFORDABLE DESIGN IS WITHIN REACH.

Have you been frustrated with your home? Are you uninspired by your surroundings and in desperate need of a home refresh?
If so, I can guess why you’re feeling this way, even though you might not be aware of what is bugging you. It is normal to not recognize when change is needed and scary to consider altering the status quo.
Here are two primary obstacles people face in considering redesign:
1) Not knowing how or where to begin. ???
After living in your home for an extended period of time…it’s difficult to see beyond the current state. But where do you start? It’s overwhelming to think about how to begin.
2) Not knowing the cost of redesign, “It’s probably too expensive.” $$$
Cost is probably the bigger obstacle. With the abundance of HGTV shows and magazines displaying gorgeous renovations, you can’t imagine spending that kind of money for those results. The design industry is vast and seems out of reach to the average consumer.
The decision to redesign does not have to be daunting. Interior decorators can address the mystery and expense of design by creatively and affordably presenting options.
Interior Decorating NE has helped many clients delight in the small changes that have made a huge impact on their space and mood. As a designer, I can quickly assess your room and create an environment that breathes new life into outdated and worn spaces.
The idea behind Affordable Design is to utilize what you already own. The goal is to repurpose or relocate decor items to follow design guidelines. We are experts in proportionality, scale, balance, color and relationality.
Proportionality refers to how items relate to each other. This takes into account Scale, which is the size of the decor. Balance is in relation to grouping of decor that compliment each other. Color obviously pertains to coordination of items, with respect to proximity and totality of the space. Relationality is how all decor and furniture is positioned in the room to create a cohesive and calming effect.
* MY VIGNETTES*
I am obsessed with Vignettes (“a small ornamental design filling a space”). You might not be familiar with this design term, but probably have seen or created one. A vignette can also be described as a grouping of small decor items that create a lovely display. Hold on, it’s not that simple. Here are some tips for creating a successful vignette.
Tip: Each item needs to be carefully positioned with regard to scale and color, while paying attention to its proximity and relationship to the room as a whole.
Every decor item needs to make design “sense” and not placed in isolation.
Tip: Vignettes should be in groups of 3, with varying heights, less than 3, items look lost. More than 3 tends to look cluttered. It’s okay to have other items along with the primary vignette, but make sure additional decor relates to the vignette and does not crowd it. Here are some examples of vignettes I have created.

IN CONCLUSION
Hopefully you have learned: Small changes make a big impact when positioned and created following established design guidelines.
It is not necessary to disregard all your decor items and furnishings. Designers bring a fresh set of eyes and ideas you have not thought about.
